Evie's Latest Adventure

On and Up

Hello everyone! Evie’s final reconstruction is on for tomorrow (Thursday). This is the LAST of three surgeries!! We are incredibly proud of Evie, amazed by her resilience, and we are thankful once again for your support of this sweet family.

If you are led please do pray for her and Bob. They have a huge day tomorrow! Leaving before dawn for UCLA, Evie will get checked in and be in surgery at 10AM. It will be two hours. She will be monitored for a couple of hours post-op and if all goes well, she has the option to check out. They plan to be back home to Santa Ynez by evening.

Unfortunately, she is unable to get her port out tomorrow, as was hoped, due to insurance issues. A small setback in the scheme of things, but ugh. Insurance.

Some specific requests:
-for good traffic to and from LA (you Californians know this is a real prayer need!!)
-for a totally successful procedure with no follow up issues
-for Henry to have a great day at school and with his grandparents
-for Bob’s stamina to stay strong
-that Evie’s energy remains as high as possible to account for two (yes two) birthday celebrations for Henry this weekend! Henry is 9!
-swift healing for Evie in the weeks that follow—with two remaining immunotherapy infusions and the port removal to go!

Thank you and love to you all. Onward and upward! We’ll update this post following the surgery.

UPDATE 5/2/24:

Many prayers answered!

1) Evie and Bob made it home after a totally successful surgery with an (almost alarmingly) fast post op!

2) If Bob’s energy lagged, he was wide awake after experiencing 4.1 tremors, an aftershock of an earthquake yesterday, during Evie’s operation!

3) They sailed through LA and back.

4) They actually beat Henry before he got home for the day. :)

Evie will go back to UCLA for a checkup in a couple of weeks. Since there are no drainage tubes this time around, risk of infection is low. She was groggy but thrilled it went was so efficient and fast. Can anyone join me while I roll my eyes over her describing today as a “nothing burger”? :)

God is good regardless, but we are giddy with thankfulness for this wonderful outcome!
